Questions
If the answer you need is not here, ask us directly. We would rather answer twice than have you guess.
- Do I need an account to order?
- No. Send us the opening schedule and we will price it. If you order regularly we will set you up with trade terms so you are not re-quoting the same lines every job.
- Can you quote from my architect’s drawings?
- Yes. Send the window and door schedule with the elevations and we will come back with a line-by-line quote against it, flagging anything that will not hit code or that we think is specified wrong.
- What are your lead times?
- TODO — give real ranges. Lead times vary by brand and by whether the unit is stock or custom, so quote a range per brand rather than one number, and say when you last checked it.
- Which brands do you carry?
- Andersen, Pella, Viwinco, NorthEast, BWI and Therma-Tru. If a job is specified for a line we do not stock, tell us. We can usually source it or propose an equivalent that meets the same performance numbers.
- How do I pick between Economy, Standard and Premium?
- Those are our shorthand for frame material and glazing package, not brand tiers. Economy is vinyl with a double-pane unit, Standard is composite or clad with Low-E argon, Premium is fiberglass or clad-wood with triple glazing. The pricing guide sets out what changes between them. In the estimator the tier is only a label on the printed sheet; it does not change the arithmetic.
- Can you supply impact-rated units?
- Yes. Viwinco’s Ocean View line is built for it, and several of the other manufacturers offer impact packages. Send us the wind-borne debris zone and design pressure the job has to meet and we will spec to it.
- How accurate is the estimator?
- It is a budgeting tool, not a quote. It totals the unit prices you enter, adds labour and overhead at the percentages you set, and grosses the result up to your target margin. It is only as good as the unit prices you put in. For a real number, send us the schedule.
- Where is my estimate stored?
- On your own device. The estimator runs entirely in your browser and saves your working copy to that browser so a refresh does not lose it. Nothing is sent to us and nothing reaches our servers. Clearing your site data deletes it, and so does the Clear button.
- Can I change the labour and overhead percentages?
- Yes, and you should. Labour defaults to 40% of material cost and overhead to 10% because those are common rules of thumb, not because they are right for your business. Labour, overhead and target margin are all editable.
- Do you deliver to site?
- TODO — confirm delivery radius, whether there is a minimum order for free delivery, and whether you offload or the crew does.
- What happens if a unit arrives damaged?
- TODO — state your real process and the window for reporting damage. Contractors will read this one carefully, so make it specific.
- Who handles a warranty claim?
- The manufacturer warrants the product and the terms vary by brand and by line, and a lifetime limited warranty on one line is not the same cover as a ten-year limited warranty on another. We will tell you which warranty applies before you order and help you file the claim.
Still stuck? Send us the job and we will answer against your actual schedule.
